Phil Gornell
Phil Gornell is a British songwriter, producer and mixer based in Nashville & Los Angeles. For over a decade he’s produced, engineered, mixed and written records for some of the biggest names in pop and rock.
Phil started his career doing live sound for a range of global rock bands including Bring Me The Horizon, New Found Glory and 5 Seconds of Summer. During this time Phil set up renowned studio Steel City in Sheffield where he engineered records with Bring Me The Horizon and co-wrote and produced Deaf Havana’s UK top 3 album ‘Rituals’, released in 2016.
In 2019, Phil moved to LA to set up a new recording facility and take on numerous exciting new projects which included collaborating with All Time Low, co-writing and producing 7 tracks on their album, ‘Wake Up, Sunshine’ (Billboard Rock #1, OCC #3), released in April 2020. In 2021, Phil co-wrote the band’s single “PMA” (feat. Pale Waves) and in 2023, he co-wrote the songs “English Blood // American Heartache” and anti-love single “Modern Love” from the band’s album ‘Tell Me I’m Alive’.
2023 saw Phil produce the entirety of UK #1 Busted ‘Greatest Hits’ record, featuring an array of high-profile collaborators such as Jonas Brothers, James Arthur, McFly, You Me At Six and The Vamps. He also co-wrote their original songs “Good One” and “One Of These Days”, with the latter reaching BBC Radio 2’s B list and being named the station’s Record Of The Week in the lead up to Christmas.
